While I appreciate the hard work everyone does, I just don’t like the dock. And, the icons look…cartoonish. I’m currently using 11.04 Classic (No effects) because I prefer the layout, it’s intuitive, it’s clean, and it’s elegant. With the dock…not so elegant (at least with those icons).
I agree with Jim Chatman there. Dock looks awful. Icons are too large and unattractive. Gets in the way too
Well, the UI is real slick – feel drawn to it. Also the amount of thought put in making Unity as keyboard-friendly as it is, is applaudable. Three cheers. Awaiting impatiently for oneric release.
I agree with Jim. I will be using the Classic layout as long as it is offered. If they ever make the mistake of killing it I will be moving to a new distro or to Xubuntu etc.
You can easily change the icon theme, you know? I use Faenza icons, and the launcher looks great with them. Look at this: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xyf0UcpFIcM/TcFwP7L85II/AAAAAAAACAI/w-6MZvnkz0w/s1600/Screenshot.png
The dock is not designed for professional users. I am using dual LCD, and it is really not working. I am using classic as well.
I went from 10.10 to 11.04 with the Classic desktop and all I got for my effort was a lot of bugs. I’ll try 11.10 if I can keep the Classic desktop. If not, I may dump Ubuntu altogether.
