hi, i’m rather a newbie to linux and am not quite sure how to save changes to th sources.list
All i get each time i apt-get install skype is
Lecture des listes de paquets… Fait
Construction de l’arbre des dépendances
Lecture des informations d’état… Fait
E: Impossible de trouver le paquet skype
i can get into the sources list ok, insert the http adress, but it doesn’t seem to be applied when i apt-get update
Can anyone help please

hi, everybody, i’ve installed skype on ubuntu 10.04 succesfully, but when i run it, i can’t find it after closing the skype window, and when i chek for skype in my system i find iit still running, so how can i make to have a icon on my desk…?

Use sources.list.d instead, create a file called skype.list or so and put the line there.

I tried to follow the proceedure for hardy heron 8.x but I wasnt able to install it properly. This message occured:

Joejoe you have to use the sudo commands in the terminal under accessories. By default you won’t be a root user so you can’t edit files like the ap list directly.

I just tried to download Skype debian - first on the website. Seemed easy, but when I open the folder it says ‘Could not open… The package might be corrupted or you are not allowed to open the file: please check the permissions of the file’

I then tried your method, typing ‘~$ sudo apt-get install skype’. In response it said:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?

I am a complete beginner, so please keep any response simple.

apt-get -f install miqo to solve the dependancies
then redo the apt-get install skype
