I have an update to my video playback using Firefox. Unfortunately I have not been able to get a video to play in Firefox or Opera. However, I am running the KDE desktop on Ubuntu and when I open Konqueror, I can view the video files from CNN.

When I attempt to open a video link a window opens stating: Plugin Warning: The CNN.com video experience is optimized for Windows Media Player 9 or above. No Windows Media detected. There is a link that states get the player.

I installed Opera to see if there was a difference but that didn't help, either.

Thank you for your prompt answer. I do not have libtotem-complesplugin.so,libtotem-comples-plugin.xpt files in the path you suggested. In the /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins directory I have:
libjavaplugin_oji.so, libunixprintplugin.so, nphelix.so and nphelix.xpt files. There are no other files. Could these plugins be located somewhere else?
Should I still try to use the rm for the plugin you suggested?

try to follow this and let me know if it works or not

go to /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox/plugins

and remove

libtotem-complex-plugin.so,libtotem-complex-plugin.xpt files

Use the following command

sudo rm libtotem-complex-plugin.*

Firefox is preconfigured to play real audio streams with totem. To use the real player plugin you must remove the totem plugin responsible to play these real audio streams.

i hope this helps

Thank you for making it so easy to install RealPlayer10 on my Ubuntu system. I like the programs that come with Ubuntu but prefer the KDE environment wo I can use either desktop. However, now that it is up and running, how can I configure Firefox to recognize it when I go to a site like cnn.com and click on one of their video's that requires RealPlayer10?
