Hi. Did a base install using the net-iso image in vmware server. Then tried your instruction but no X installed… so I had to apt-get install xorg That was probably overkill but it got X up and running.

Thank you. It’s funny how simple information, like which two .debs get you the base KDE system, can be much harder to find than more complicated information like, say, exactly how to reconfigure the kernel for some 1980s mainframe peripheral.

Why not install KDE when you install Debian Etch?

boot: install tasks=”kde-desktop, standard”

This way, you’re only installing KDE and not Gnome.

Uhm… wouldn’t it be alot easier just to install the Debian KDE ISO here…
